Guedes Construction, Inc. at 2420 Grand Avenue I-1, Vista, California.

My review written June 2015 somehow was deleted. I am re-writing as it is so important to update and give an unbiased report on our home projects completed by Guedes Construction.

We chose Guedes Construction after interviewing several contractors. The reasons were as follows:

Rick arrived at appointed time. He was respectful. He listened. He was informative about the possibilities within our budgeted guidelines. He was never condescending about our home or the scope of the job. He had awesome ideas that were beyond my initial thoughts and so we created a bathroom that focused not only on our current needs but possible future accessibility as well.

Other contractor's would not give me a dollar amount or give me any itemized numbers which is helpful when trying to determine which adjustments might be given in a major remodel. Rick provided me with an itemized estimate in a timely manner which was clear and concise. It gave me the knowledge I needed if there were certain adjustments to be made.

The work on my bathroom began on the date promised.

Guedes Construction is family owned. Rick is involved from the beginning to the end of the job. His dad, Carlos, is on site and oversees work as well as performing with great skill the plumbing, electrical, and any project pending. There are two men, Jose and Juan, whose work is above standard for industry. It is comforting to see the same people throughout the job and know their skill level.

The scope of the remodel was completely gutting entire bathroom, replacing entire subfloor; moving plumbing and wiring to build new glassed-in accessible, tiled shower with hinged glass door with same tile around existing tub to blend the two together; new recessed lighting; new floor covering; plastering and painting the walls and ceiling, Also door opening from bedroom to bath was expanded from it's existing 30' to a 48" opening which allowed for clearance if ever needed. This was my choice as I like the openness and how it gave the bedroom and bathroom a bigger feel.

My new bathroom is so easy to keep clean and look nice which is greatly appreciated as it reduces the work for maintaining and keeping clean.

After this bathroom project, our kitchen became the next priority after I saw the difference in our lives by having our bathroom done.

Our kitchen had so many issues that we decided to follow the same route by gutting and starting from scratch. I would have been afraid had it not been for Guedes. With Rick's help, we were able to come up with a good new plan for our kitchen. Rick and I would talk about the issues with the kitchen and then he would go back to office and design it so that I could see a draft to visualize what it would look like. He is one of the few companies that actually have a showroom to show you cabinets or tiles to help choose the right one. He goes above and beyond to help in the decision making without being pushing or trying to sell. It was overwhelming with all the choices but Rick's knowledge helped with the decision making. I loved that my opinion mattered and that in all areas, I was asked to make sure that it was what I wanted. I.E. where the light switches should go, where I wanted my lighting fixtures, where I wanted my door handles. Even though they have more experience in these matters, they still ask and keep me involved all throughout the project.

From my new cabinets, the new counter tops, recessed lighting, new slide in range/oven, range hood, built in refrigerator area, floors, I have to say they go above and beyond to satisfy their customers. Their skill is obvious and causes one to relax knowing they are in good hands. Carlos was on-hand as he was in the bathroom which gave me great comfort watching him work and knowing he is great at what he does. Which is everything a job might require.

Rick also wall mounted two of our televisions which I heard that he could do this for me. I love that all those wires don't show anymore and that it feels safer than sitting on a shelf, in case of an earthquake.
